We are holding a Noise Demonstration outside the walls of Dungavel Immigration Removal Centre on the 18th of November 2017.
The demonstration will show our solidarity with detainees imprisoned in Scotland and across the UK, condemning the violent and racist immigration detention system. On the same day, campaigners will surround Yarl's Wood Detention Centre in London. Together, we will demand closure of all detention centres and an end to border and migration controls.
What's the money for?
Dungavel is completely isolated, in the countryside 40 minutes drive from Glasgow. We need to book coaches.
We want to ensure that those with experience of the immigration system are able to come, by covering their travel expenses. Your donations will buy bus tickets for those who are unable to pay.
The more voices we have, the louder and clearer our message will be. Show your solidarity! Please help us get there!
In September 2016, the Home Office made a pledge to close Dungavel. They backtracked on this commitment after campaigners obstructed their proposal for a new fast track removals prison at the Airport.
On the 19th September of this year, a man detained in Dungavel died. The centre has failed to disclose how he died and we are calling for a full investigation into his death.
There have been 3 deaths in UK immigration prisons in the last month alone, and 43 deaths since 2000.
Now is the time for a clear message:
END DETENTION! SHUT DOWN DUNGAVEL!
