Why we need to Save our Snowdrop
Snowdrop was one of 57 giraffe sculptures, which took Worcester by storm this summer in an unmissable public art trail visited by thousands.
For 10 glorious weeks, 30 giant giraffes and 27 cute calves stood tall through the streets and open spaces – making people smile and stop for countless selfies.
We brought this Wild in Art trail to the city, to raise funds for our Build 2020 Appeal.
Each giraffe has a place in our hearts, but Snowdrop is extra special to everyone here at the hospice.
She was painted by Katie Hodgetts, an artist whose grandad was cared for by St Richard’s Hospice before he died in 2016.
Her delicate design features the hospice’s symbol, a snowdrop, which represents hope.
We need your help to bring Snowdrop home to St Richard’s
Creating a lasting legacy for the hospice
The Worcester Stands Tall trail has ended and the giant giraffes – plus one calf – will soon go under the hammer at auction, raising money for the St Richard’s Hospice Build 2020 Appeal.
The appeal is raising money for the £5.3 million project to build a bigger hospice in Worcester, enabling us to care for more people and families in the future.
We want to buy Snowdrop at auction and return her to the peaceful gardens here at St Richard’s.
Our gardens are a tranquil place where many of our patients and their loved ones reflect and enjoy their time together.
Here, Snowdrop can be seen by everyone at the hospice – creating a lasting legacy of Worcester Stands Tall, a project that means so much to the future of our care.
Our giraffes brought joy to so many this summer – we want to ensure this continues for our patients and their loved ones.
Why we have to raise £5,000
We need to raise £5,000 so we can place a competitive bid for Snowdrop at our auction on Thursday, 11th October.
Bidding for each giraffe will begin between £2,500 and £3,500 – so we need to raise a significant amount to be in with a chance of a successful bid.
All the money raised at auction goes to our Build 2020 Appeal – helping us build a bigger hospice so we can care for more patients living with life-limiting illnesses, their loved ones and bereaved people across Worcestershire.
If our bid is unsuccessful, all the money raised in this campaign will be donated to the Build 2020 Appeal.
