Bring Fisher FC HomeFisher FC are an entirely member-owned and run community football team, established as a not-for-profit social enterprise. Playing in the English non-league structure at step 5, we were formed by a group of supporters after the liquidation of Fisher Athletic in 2009. We have no rich backers. All our funding comes via the efforts of our supporters and members who in turn run our club.
Since 2004, we have been forced to play away from our home in Rotherhithe, south-east London, as our old ground lay derelict and unused. Now we finally have the chance to return to Rotherhithe, and a brand-new ground located on Salter Road. A group of our committed fans are undertaking a challenging walk to help raise crucial funds - and they need your support.
Why do we need your help? We're nearly there, with the build of the ground fully-funded and planning permission agreed. The fantastic new facility will feature a state-of-the-art artificial pitch, and will allow us to expand our work providing sporting and volunteering opportunities for the local community in an area of London that is sorely lacking in high-quality sporting facilities.
But we will need to ensure that the ground is fully kitted-out before we move in, and we will also need to pay legal and other costs to make sure that our club is protected when we move in. We want the ground to be in use seven-days a week - and that means we need to ensure that the function room is fully furnished, and that we can purchase essential items of equipment.
The 1908 ChallengeThe Fisher Boys' Club was founded in 1908 by Bermondsey teacher Michael Culliton and Mr Norman Potter, to give local young people the chance to play sport - and keep out of trouble. We continue to believe in Mr Culliton and Mr Potter's ideals - and our new home will allow us to provide even more opportunities for local people to get involved in football.
A group of Fisher fans have set themselves the challenge of raising money to help Bring Fisher FC Home by walking from the ground of another club formed in 1908, St Albans City, in Hertfordshire, to our new home at St Paul's on Salter Road, Rotherhithe SE16 - a distance of 25 miles.
The 1908 Challenge will see Fisher fans - all part-owners of the club - raise vitally needed funds for the move home by taking up the challenge of walking a near-marathon. Please show your support!
Donate and support us
We need your help to support our intrepid walkers - and the Bring Fisher FC Home Campaign!
Every penny we raise will go towards ensuring our new home ground is fully kitted out. We need goal-posts, clubhouse furniture, signs, maintenance equipment and more. We're a not-for-profit, voluntary run club - wholly owned by our members who each hold an equal share. So you can be confident that we'll put all the money we raise to use that will benefit our community.
